Preamble
We the Kasama Theatre Arts Production
artistes, determined to use our talents in drama, music, dance and other art to
inform, entertain and educate recognizing the need to utilize a more familiar,
simpler entertaining and appreciative of our indigenous cultural expressions;
language, oral traditions and contemporary art disciplines, concerned about
HIV/AIDS, Hunger, Poverty, water and sanitation, Disease, Corruption and other
civic issues.
Introduction
Kasama Theatre Arts Production
hereinafter being referred to as KATP is a group of performing arts based in
Kasama, Zambia and gender sensitive. KATP was formed on the 7th 0f
August, 2003
In order to deliver the intended
information to the masses with a Zambian flavor, Kasama Arts Theatre Production
works to promote networking with partners such as Community based art groups,
interest groups and individuals and other public institutions by using the
integrated approach in performing its activities in an effective, comprehensive
and indeed objective manner. This means that Kasama Arts Theatre Production
(KATP) being a community group, it endeavors to work with the community and
ensure that all its productions address the issues of the community, this being
in line with theatre for development theory.
Composition
The group is composed of 25 members
from Kasama Communities throughout the district and other community theatre
stakeholders.
Legal
status
Kasama Theatre Arts Production (KATP), is registered with National Arts Council of Zambia (NACZ)
established by an Act of parliament No. 31 of 1994 and statutory instrument No.
129 of 1995 as an Art Association, and an affiliate of Zambia Popular Theatre Alliance
(ZAPOTA) and a member of National
Theatre Arts Association of Zambia (NATAAZ)

Statement
Kasama Arts Theatre Production is a
group of performing artists armed at entertaining, informing, sensitizing and
education the community through performing arts.

economic development through contemporary Arts
Objectives
1. To entertain, inform, sensitize and
educate the community through performing arts,
2. To ensure that all collaborating
partners are given equal access, quality services.

To reduce the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate and
scale up awareness, prevention and treatment programs to mitigate the impact of
HIV/AIDS and the other reproductive health concerns among communities by using
expressive arts

Use
cultural participation and expressive arts as a viable tool for development.

have worked with Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia (PPAZ) in
reproductive heath and family planning

have also worked with Anti-Corruption Commission in Anti-Corruption awareness
campaign in all the twelve districts of Northern
Province .

have worked with AFRICARE-ZAMBIA in the area of training KATP members in
livelihood and entrepreneurship training for 3 days

Human
Rights Commission is another Organization that KATP has worked with in
sensitizing the community member on their rights as citizens.

of Gender, Mother and Child Development during the celebrations of Day of an
African Child and Youth Days.

Women Christian Association has also worked with us on child abuse awareness
and corruption awareness.

have also worked with Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company on water sanitation
and hygiene.

Municipal Council is also has worked with us on issues of water and sanitation.

on rural water sanitation and hygiene in the communities of Kasama District

on gender based violence through the department of social welfare.

have worked with Transparency International Zambia on issues on
corruption.
